Soon after Hindutva hate speech, 19-year-old Muslim man killed in Karnataka
19-year-old Sameer succumbed to injuries on Tuesday morning at Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) hospital in Hubli.

Two Muslim youth Sameer (19) and Shamseer (21) from Nargund in Karnataka’s Gadag district were brutally attacked by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) cadres on Monday evening. 19-year-old Sameer succumbed to injuries on Tuesday morning at Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) hospital in Hubli. Shamseer is still in critical condition.

Hussain, a local resident told Maktoob that the RSS men stabbed Sameer’s chest with a knife. They also attacked Sahmseer with a deadly weapon.

Hussain also said that this deadly attack against Muslim men happened soon after a gathering organised by Bajrang Dal on Monday in Naragund where slogans were raised against Muslims. Videos showed Bajrang Dal leader Sanju Nalvade is delivering a genocidal speech against Muslims. He was speaking in the presence of police officers.

Following an FIR has been lodged at Naragund police station, four men belonging to Bajrang Dal and RSS including Sanju Nalvade have been arrested. The other three are Mallikarjuna, Channabasappa and Sakrappa.

According to the police, the attack was motivated by “hatred towards the Muslim community.”

Sameer was working at a restaurant and was returning home with his friend Shamseer, a photographer who works at a studio, Hussain said to Maktoob.

A CCTV footage showed the men who were waiting at Naragunda State Bank near Sangarwara, stopped the bike of Sameer and Shamseer and attacked them with deadly weapons.
