Bindhu Ammini, a lawyer and Dalit activist, was one among the few women who dared to challenge Kerala’s Hindutva conscience by entering Sabarimala temple in 2019 following the Supreme Court’s historic verdict.

Since then, Ammini, a lecturer at Government Law College in Kozhikode, was attacked by right-wing activists using a chemical spray, survived a pre-planned accident, physical assault, and cyberbullying.

In many incidents, her assailants got felicitated by the Hindutva leaders.

As the police and Kerala’s left government were silent in taking action against the culprit, Ammini recently announced that she was planning to leave Kerala as she doesn’t feel safe anymore.
