Transfer Lucknow IG who is forcing people to vote for her husband: Samajwadi Party

The Samajwadi Party on Monday urged the Election Commission to transfer IG, Lucknow Range, Laxmi Singh for allegedly forcing people to vote for her husband who is contesting the Uttar Pradesh assembly polls on a BJP ticket.

Rajeshwar Singh, former joint director of the Enforcement Directorate, is contesting from Lucknow’s Sarojini Nagar seat.

In a letter sent to the poll panel, SP state unit president Naresh Uttam Patel said the senior cop was affecting the elections by asking people to vote for her husband, Rajeshwar Singh, and that she should be transferred to some other district.

This is the third time SP is demanding the transfer of Laxmi Singh. The key Opposition party in the state had earlier made similar demands to the Election Commission (EC) on February 7 and February 11.

Laxmi Singh is misusing her influence over district police officers and jawans unfairly to impact free and fair elections, SP alleged.
