Interview | Chandrashekhar Azad on his fight for social justice against Yogi Adityanath

Chandrashekhar Azad, the founder leader of the Azad Samaj Party (Kanshiram), is seen as a force of resistance – a saviour, an inspiration, and a leader for the Dalit community in Uttar Pradesh. While speaking to Maktoob, Azad asserted that the Azad Samaj Party is more than just a political party for him; it is a movement inspired by Dr. B.R Ambedkar’s ideas.

A lawyer who rose to prominence in 2017 during the Saharanpur caste violence was imprisoned for over a year under the NSA, but nothing could stop this leader from speaking out against injustice. Azad was also vocal against CAA and NRC during the historic protests against discriminatory citizenship laws in 2019 winter.

Now, he is making his wave into hard-core politics, standing against Uttar Pradesh’s Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath from Gorakhpur, which is considered to be one of BJP’s strongest seats.

Azad says that Adityanath is considered to be the strongest BJP leader and that only Chandrashekhar Azad can defeat Yogi.
