Surveys don’t matter, we’ll get over 300 seats in UP: Akhilesh Yadav

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Monday claimed that the ruling BJP will be wiped out from Uttar Pradesh when the results are declared on March 10.

The exit polls for the five states — Punjab, UP, Uttarakhand, Manipur, and Goa — will be broadcast from 7 pm today. As per the Election Commission of India’s directives, the exit poll findings can be released only after the conclusion of voting in all the states.

Pre-poll surveys showed that the BJP had the edge in Uttar Pradesh elections.

“Let them show whatever they have got. We are winning with a majority,” he said, dismissing predictions earlier on some TV channels.

Former UP CM spoke to PTI news agency before the exit polls were scheduled to come up with their predictions on Monday evening, at the end of the final round of polling for the state assembly.

Yadav claimed that the SP-led alliance will form the next government in Uttar Pradesh with over 300 seats.

The SP supremo slammed the ruling BJP for presenting “lies and fake data” during the campaign, and said people had realised this and instead voted for their future — against inflation and unemployment and for growth.
