Ukraine’s human rights commissioner has said at least 144 children have been killed since the start of Russia’s invasion.

Denisova Lyudmila said indiscriminate shelling have also left 220 children wounded.

On Thursday, the UN’s children agency, UNICEF, said about half of Ukraine’s children – 4.3 million – have been uprooted by the conflict.

At least 1.8 million crossed into other countries, while 2.5 million have been internally displaced, the agency said.

“The war has caused one of the fastest large-scale displacements of children since World War Two,” said UNICEF chief Catherine Russell.

“This is a grim milestone that could have lasting consequences for generations to come”, Russell warned.
