A video is doing the rounds on social media where a Hindu Mahant named Bajrang Muni Das can be heard shouting he will abduct Muslim women from their homes and rape them in the open if any Muslim man goes after Hindu women.

The video was shot on 2 April 2 in front of a mosque “Sheshe Wali Masjid” in Uttar Pradesh’s Sitapur area during a procession on the occasion of Navratri and Hindu New Year. Confirming it, Sitapur Police on Thursday tweeted that investigation into the said hate speech is already in progress.

“I am telling this to you with all the love that if a single Hindu girl is teased by you in Khairabad, I will openly bring your daughter and daughter-in-law out of your home and rape her,” Das said on a loudspeaker.

The saffron-wearing Mahant Das was accompanied by local police and surrounded by a large Hindu crowd. in the video, the crowd can be seen clapping at every word being shouted by the Muni Das.

The 2 minutes 10 seconds video begins with Das asking the crowd to chant Jai Shri Ram.

The team concerned is looking into the matter and legal action will be taken against the accused after checking relevant facts and evidence, Sitapur Police said on Twitter after the video was shared by AltNews co-founder Mohammed Zubair.

The Sitapur police initiated a probe under Additional Superintendent of Police North Rajiv Dikshit.

Muslim groups and Opposition parties are alleging that Narendra Modi’s Union government and Yogi Aditynath’s state government are encouraging the concerted and wide-ranging offensive against Muslims including openly delivered hate speeches. Activists and analysts say calls for anti-Muslim violence — even genocide — are moving from the fringes to the mainstream, while the government keeps silent.
