A 25-year-old man Rajaram who was working as a caretaker at a farmhouse, died Monday moments after being beaten by a mob of 10-15 Hindutva men on “suspicion” of slaughtering cows.

A 25-year-old man Rajaram who was working as a caretaker at a farmhouse, died Monday moments after being beaten by a mob of 10-15 Hindutva men on “suspicion” of slaughtering cows.

Two of Rajaram’s friends were also assaulted by the mob and are undergoing treatment.

The deceased was working as a caretaker at a farmhouse near Dwarka where two others, who received injuries, were employed as workers. 

The assailants identified themselves as “gau rakshaks”, according to the FIR lodged by the survivors.

Delhi Police said two FIRs have been filed in the case and five of the accused were arrested from the spot. The second FIR was against the trio including the deceased over cow slaughtering.

“The police team collected a few samples of the animal remains from the spot and sent them for examination. Meanwhile, five men were arrested from the spot. The matter is under investigation,” Indian Express quotes a police officer as saying.
