Hindutva poster boy Rambhakt Gopal back in spotlight for violent Instagram posts

Rambhakt Gopal, who got infamous for firing at protesters in New Delhi’s Jamia Millia Islamia University during an anti-CAA movement, is back in the spotlight after videos inciting violence uploaded on his Instagram account get viral on social media.

Dozens of activists are demanding Haryana police arrest Gopal for videos he shared that endorse gun violence, mob lynching and cow vigilantism.

#ArrestRambhaktGopalNow is trending on Twitter with over 20,000 tweets demanding the young Hindutva leader’s arrest.

Although the Instagram account is now deactivated, several videos from the account have been shared on social media, demanding action against Gopal.

Gopal has allegedly uploaded videos of a man terrorising children with a gun. The video is accompanied by a text that says “Gau Raksha Dal, Mewat road, Haryana”.

In one of the videos, allegedly uploaded on Instagram from the profile _rambhaktgopal_, a man can be seen being dragged and forcibly put into an SUV with the licence plate HR 70 D 4177.

The video was captioned “taking away the cow smuggler”.

“Men with pistols can be seen taking away a man. They have full freedom to violate law every day and still remain free,” journalist Kaushik Raj tweeted with the video.

India’s Right-wing Twitter handles have launched the “#ISupportRamBhaktGopal” campaign to object to any police action against Gopal.

Last year Gopal was arrested for hate speech at a Hindu Mahapanchayat in Haryana organised by Haryana BJP spokesperson and Karni Sena president Suraj Pal Amu. But he was later granted bail.
