BJP controlled civic authorities Thursday carried out anti-encroachment drives in various parts of Delhi. The demolition drives sparked massive protests in the Madanpur Khadar area of Delhi, where locals claimed that legal structures were bulldozed.

“I am ready to go to jail if it saves the houses of poor people. There is no encroachment here. I will support them (civic body) in demolition if there is any encroachment,” he told news agency ANI before his detention.
On Monday too, AAP’s Amanatullah Khan had staged a protest during a demolition drive in Shaheen Bagh. An FIR was registered against him for “obstructing” officials from carrying out the exercise.
