Two people Shahbuddin and Nawas were arrested in connection with the murder of a Dalit youth Vijaya Kamble who was in love with a Muslim girl in Karnataka’s Kalaburagi district.
Vijaya Kamble, a resident of Bheema Nagar Layout in Waditown in the district, was in love with a woman belonging to Islam and wanted to marry her. The woman’s family was opposed to their relationship, according to the police.
The murder took place on Wednesday night and the situation has turned tense in the Wadi town.
According to preliminary reports, the Dalit youth was waylaid near the railway bridge. He was attacked by weapons, stones, and bricks.
Kamble succumbed to profuse bleeding on the spot.
