Ukraine says 243 children killed amid war, 444 wounded

Ukraine says 243 children have been killed since Russia started its offensive, with another 444 wounded.

The office of the country’s prosecutor general said the figures were not final as work was under way to establish numbers in areas of active hostilities, and in temporarily occupied as well as “liberated territories.”

“As of May 30, 2022, over 687 children in Ukraine were affected by the Russian armed aggression. According to the data from juvenile prosecutors, 243 children were killed and over 444 injured,” the report states.

Currently, most casualties were recorded in Donetsk Region (153), Kyiv Region (116), Kharkiv Region (109), Chernihiv Region (68), Luhansk Region (52), Kherson Region (52), Mykolaiv Region (47), Zaporizhzhia Region (29), Sumy Region (17), the city of Kyiv (16) and Zhytomyr Region (15).

A total of 1,888 educational institutions were damaged across Ukraine as a result of Russia’s daily air and artillery strikes, and 180 of them were destroyed completely.
