Bank manager from Rajasthan shot dead in Kashmir’s Kulgam

A bank manager from Rajasthan was shot dead on Thursday by suspected militants in Kashmir’s Kulgam, days after a woman teacher was killed outside a school.

The militants fired at the bank manager, identified as Vijay Kumar from Hanumangarh, of the Ellaqui Dehati Bank at the Areh Mohanpora village in Kulgam, reports Indian Express.

Kumar was critically wounded in the attack and shifted to a hospital where the doctors declared him dead.

Kashmir Valley has witnessed at least 17 targeted killings, including police officials, teachers and sarpanches, since January this year.

“The killing of Mr Vijay Kumar, a resident of Hanumangarh, Rajasthan, and working in Kulgam, Jammu and Kashmir is highly condemnable. I pray to God to give peace to his soul and courage to his family,” Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot wrote on Twitter.

“Terrorists fired upon a bank employee (manager) at Ellaqie Dehati Bank at Areh Mohanpora in Kulgam district. He received grievous gunshot injuries in this terror incident. He is a resident of Hanumangarh Rajasthan. Area cordoned off. Further details shall follow,” tweeted Jammu and Kashmir Police.
