Rajasthan: 2 Muslim men beheaded a man over social media post supporting Nupur Sharma

Duo further posted a video boasting about beheading in Rajasthan. 

Today, two men belonging to the Muslim community beheaded a man named Kanhaiyalal in Udaipur’s Maldas street area. The victim had shared a social media post supporting the offensive comments of BJP’s former spokesperson Nupur Sharma.

After the horrific act, the duo posted a video boasting about beheading and further threatened Prime Minister – Narendra Modi. 

Rajasthan Police called it a “heinous crime” and stated that a thorough investigation is underway. 

SP Udaipur said, “A heinous murder has been committed and a thorough investigation will be conducted into the incident. Few accused have been identified. Police teams constituted to locate the accused. We will take action on the video of men claiming to have committed the act.”

Chief Minister of Rajasthan – Ashok Gehlot condemned the murder and assured of strict actions against the “criminals”.

Ashok Gehlot said, “I condemn the heinous murder of a youth in Udaipur. Strict action will be taken against the criminals involved in this incident. I appeal to everyone to maintain peace and not share the video of the act.” 

“It is a very sad incident. It is not a small incident, what has happened is beyond one’s imagination. The culprits will not be spared,” CM further told ANI.

Moreover, he said, “It’s a sad & shameful incident. There’s tense atmosphere in the nation today. Why don’t PM & Amit Shah ji address the nation? There is tension among people. PM should address the public&say that such violence won’t be tolerated & appeal for peace” 

Collector, Udaipur appealed to maintain law and order. 

“I appeal to all to maintain peace and law and order. The affected family will be provided help from the government. Stringent action will be taken against the accused,” Collector, Udaipur stated on the beheading. 

Meanwhile, locals have taken to the street in protest against the beheading of the man in the broad daylight. Shops in Maldas street area are reportedly closed. 

Also, the authorities have temporarily stopped the internet services for the next 24 hrs in the Udaipur district.
