According to data released by the Union Health Ministry on Thursday, covid-19 instances have resumed increasing once more in India, with the nation recording more than 18,000 cases after a hiatus of 130 days, bringing the cumulative tally to 4,34,52,164.

COVID-19 increasing almost everywhere in the world: WHO

WHO cautioned that COVID-19 instances are, however, increasing almost everywhere in the world. According to the World Health Organization, the number of new coronavirus cases increased by 18% in the previous week, with more than 4.1 million cases reported globally. According to the statistics released late Wednesday, the Middle East experienced the largest weekly increase in new COVID-19 cases, which rose by 47%.

In its most recent weekly assessment of the pandemic, the UN health agency said that there were approximately 8,500 deaths worldwide, almost the same as the week before.

The Middle East, Southeast Asia, and the Americas saw a rise in the number of corona-related death.

During a press conference this week, Tedros stated, “This pandemic is changing, but it’s not finished.” He said that governments’ easing of monitoring and genetic sequencing efforts put the ability to follow COVID-19’s genetic evolution “under peril” and would make it harder to detect newly developing, potentially harmful variants.

He urged nations to immunize their most vulnerable citizens, such as health workers and seniors, claiming that hundreds of millions of people are still in danger of serious illness and death from lack of vaccination.
