India added 17,070 new coronavirus cases taking the total tally of COVID-19 cases to 4,34,69,234, while the active cases increased to 1,07,189, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Friday.
The ministry reported that the national COVID-19 recovery rate was 98.55 %, while the active cases make up 0.25 % of all infections.

In comparison to the average two weeks earlier, cases have surged by 78%, while deaths have increased by 119%. After a 122-day break, the number of active cases in the nation also surpassed one lakh on Thursday. Over the course of 24 hours, 18,819 additional COVID cases were reported, bringing the death toll to 5,25,116 with 39 additional fatalities.
43 districts around the nation are recording a weekly positive rate of 10% or higher, according to data released by the Health Ministry. With 11 districts, Kerala tops this list, followed by Mizoram (6) and Maharashtra (5).
Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Manipur, Mizoram, Goa, Karnataka, and Puducherry are some of the other states that have seen a noteworthy increase.
While 42 Indian districts are reporting a positive rate of between 5 and 10%, the remaining 627 are still below the 5% threshold.
There were 39 fresh fatalities on Thursday, including 17 in Kerala, 7 in Maharashtra, 4 in Uttar Pradesh, 3 in Punjab, 2 in each of Haryana, Karnataka, and West Bengal, and 1 in each of Delhi and Sikkim.
