Shiv Sena’s Sanjay Raut detained after day-long raids in land scam case

Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut was detained Sunday by the Enforcement Directorate after a day-long raids at his house in an alleged land scam case.

The detention comes after he skipped summons twice to appear for questioning in the case.

Today at 7 am, the ED officials, accompanied by CISF officials, reached Raut’s house in Bandup in Mumbai and began searching the property.

Raut, who is in former Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena camp, has denied any wrongdoing and alleged he is being targeted due to political vendetta.

“Fake evidence has been planted against me. This is a conspiracy against me and the Shiv Sena. I won’t bow down,” Raut told reporters while he was being taken away.

A large number of Sena workers gathered outside Mr Raut’s home, raising slogans against the Enforcement Directorate and the BJP.
