A day after Shiv Sena’s senior leader and MP Sanjay Raut was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the Patra Chawl land scam, Congress leaders called the arrest ‘vendetta politics’ by BJP.
Shiv Sena has planned protests across Mumbai over Raut’s arrest.
Raut’s brother said that the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena stands firmly behind the Raut family. “The Shiv Sena and Uddhav ji stand solidly behind us. Our legal fight (over Sanjay Raut’s arrest) has begun,” Sunil Raut told news agency PTI.
Raut, 60, alleged he was being targeted by the Union government to weaken Team Thackeray.
Enforcement Directorate officials had searched Raut’s home for the most part of Sunday after he refused to appear for questioning despite being summoned twice.
