Nitish Kumar resigns as Bihar CM, meets RJD leaders

Amid turbulence in the ruling JD(U)-BJP alliance in Bihar over several issues, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar met Governor Phagu Chauhan and tendered his resignation on Tuesday.

Soon after resigning as the chief minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar Tuesday met RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav and Rabri Devi.

During their meeting, Nitish reportedly asked Yadav to forget what happened in 2017 and begin a new chapter, ANI reported.

This morning, the JD(U) and the Opposition RJD held separate meetings of their MLAs in Patna.

Amid the ongoing political crisis in Bihar, Jitan Ram Manjhi’s Hindustani Awam Morcha had extended unconditional support to Nitish Kumar and the Mahagathbandhan.

Meanwhile, the Bihar BJP core group will meet on Tuesday evening to take stock of the evolving political situation in the state.

This is the second time that the Nitish-led party has snapped ties with BJP in eight years.
