No alliance with BSP, Congress for 2024 polls, will fight with existing partners: SP

The Samajwadi Party (SP) said it will fight the 2024 Lok Sabha elections with its existing alliance partners and is capable enough to defeat the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party.

“The SP will fight the 2024 Parliamentary polls with its existing alliance partners and is capable enough to defeat the ruling BJP. The public mood is against the government,” Party’s chief spokesperson Rajendra Chaudhary to The Hindu.

“There is no question of any alliance with the BSP or the Congress,” he added.

In the 2017 Assembly polls, the SP formed an alliance with the Indian National Congress (INC) conceding 105 seats but had failed to defeat the BJP.

In the 2019 General elections, the SP formed a ‘Mahagatbandhan’ with the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), but was not able to stop the saffron surge.

“Our alliance got more than 36% votes in the polls ( 2022 Assembly polls) and despite all the tactics by the BJP we were ahead in 24 Parliamentary seats,” Chaudhary said to the newspaper.

The SP leader said he believes that along with its existing smaller allies such as the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), it will defeat the saffron party.

In all likelihood the state and national convention of the party would happen by November-December and new teams would be formed, SP leader said.
