Akhilesh Yadav’s foot march to UP assembly stopped midway in Lucknow

Soon after it started, Akhilesh Yadav’s mega march to the Uttar Pradesh state assembly in Lucknow on Monday was stopped midway amid heavy police deployment and barricading.

Prevented from proceeding further, former chief minister Akhilesh, along with other SP MLAs and leaders sat on a dharna near the barricading and held a mock Assembly session at 11 am.

Akhilesh called the BJP government “anti-democracy, and anti-Constitution”. “The government did not allow us to go to the legislature…” he told reporters.

About 100 odd MLAs and some party cardres were said to be part of the protest.

Akhilesh Yadav’s march comes amid attempts by the opposition to unite against the ruling BJP ahead of the 2024 General Elections.
