“Undemocratic, anti-constitutional,” CFI to challenge ban in court, asks cadres to stop activities

Responding to the ban declared by the Union government on Wednesday, Campus Front of India called the move “undemocratic” and “anti-Constitutional”. The Muslim student group in a press statement said the ban will be challenged in court.

CFI also asked all the students who had associated with the organisation previously, not to conduct any programme or activity in the name of the organisation.

CFI was banned for five years under section 3 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act for its affiliation with the Popular Front of India.

CFI president Sajid told Maktoob that they are taking stock of the situation.

“We hope it will not affect the court proceedings of Atikur Rahman,” Sajid told Maktoob, referring to the deteriorating health condition of jailed CFI leader booked under UAPA in Hathras conspiracy case.

PFI Kerala state also announced that they are disbanding the organisation.

“We are not responsible for using the name or banner of the organisation for any programme or activity or social media posts and comments,” reads the statement.

“Campus Front of India has been working for over a decade among students across the country with a vision of building socially concerned and responsible youths with secular and democratic spirit. We have succeeded in achieving it to an extent. Many educated youths who were part of the organisation have now been active in the various spheres of social activities.”

CFI said it maintained constitutional and democratic values and not promoted activities against our law.

“As an organisation that, in accordance with the law, concedes the ban order by the MHA and will be stopping all activities of the organisation in India with immediate effect.”

The ban came a day after the second nationwide crackdown on PFI and its affiliated outfits in five days. All the National Executive Committee members of PFI remain jailed.

At the same time, we reject all the allegations against the Campus Front in connection with PFI as baseless and fabricated. It will be challenged in court after discussion with legal experts by the concerned persons.
