After two rounds of nationwide raids and arrest of over 240 leaders and functionaries of the Popular Front Of India (PFI) in a week, the Union government last evening banned the Muslim outfit for five years over alleged terror activities.
The government notification says the investigations have established clear linkages between PFI and its associates or affiliates or fronts.
In exercise of the powers under Sec 3(1) UAPA, the Narendra Modi government has declared the Popular Front of India (PFI) and its associates or affiliates or fronts as “unlawful associations”.
Rehab India Foundation (RIF), Campus Front of India (CFI), All India Imams Council (AIIC), National Confederation of Human Rights Organization (NCHRO), National Women’s Front, Junior Front, Empower India Foundation and Rehab Foundation, Kerala also declared “unlawful association.”
The action against the group is condemned as a “political vendetta” by the Hindu nationalist government. Maktoob reached out to PFI leaders who declined to talk as they take stock of the situation.
