27-year-old Mohammad Ameen, main accused in ISIS Kerala module case investigated by National Investigation Agency died in Delhi’s Mandoli prison complex, police informed family on Saturday.
Ameen was arrested in March 2021 and booked under India’s stringent terror law — Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. He was accused of running various ISIS propaganda channels on different social media platforms and radicalising and recruiting new members for the ISIS module.
Jail authorities informed the family through local police on Saturday morning, Ameen’s father-in-law, Mayin Kutty, told Maktoob.
“He spoke to his parents yesterday evening [Friday] and shared that he was recovering from a headache. According to co-accused, he vomitted blood in the morning and got shifted to hospital,” Mayin Kutty said.
Ameen is a resident of Mankada, a town in Kerala’s Malappuram district. He shifted to Bengaluru to enroll into a islamic course before he got arrested in Delhi by NIA.
According to the family, the trial in the case was suppose to began last month.
In February this year, NIA filed a chargesheet in the NIA special court in Bengaluru against Ameen alias Abu Yahya. The others named in the chargesheet are Mohammed Waqar Lone alias Wilson Kashmiri,Mizha Siddeeque, Shifa Haris alias Ayesha, Obaid Hamid Matta, Madesh Shankar alias Abdullah, Ammar Abdul Rahiman and Muzamil Hassan Bhat.
