Though two complaints were filed against Bharatiya Janata Party MP Pragya Thakur on Tuesday after she urged Hindus to keep weapons at home to kill Muslims, the Karnataka Police are yet to register a first information report in the case.
Terror case accused BJP MP Pragya Singh Thakur on Sunday urged Hindus to keep weapons prepared at home to use against enemies. Thakur’s remarks citing “Love Jihad” indicates she is referring to Muslims as enemies.
“Keep weapons at home. Keep them sharp. If veggies can be cut well, so can the enemy’s head,” Thakur is caught saying at the event.
Tehseen Poonawalla, a political and constitutional analyst and Trinamool Congress spokesperson Saket Gokhale filed complaints against the Hindutva leader. The complaints said that she had made “a highly blasphemous and derogatory speech against the minority community”.
Shivamogga Superintendent of Police GK Mithun Kumar, however said that “an authentic communication has to be made” for the authorities to take legal action, Scroll.in reported.
The infamous Sangh Parivar figure was speaking at the Hindu Jagarana Vedike’s South Region annual convention, which was held at Karnataka’s Shivamogga.
Harsha, a Bajrang Dal member, was killed in Shivamogga last year triggering unrest for weeks.
“Respond in the same way to those involved in Love Jihad. Protect your daughters and instil good values in them.”
The MP from Bhopal said to at least keep knives used to cut vegetables.
“Keep weapons in your homes, if nothing else, at least knives used to cut vegetables, sharp…Don’t know what situation will arise when…Everyone has the right to self-protection. If someone infiltrates our house and attacks us, giving a befitting replay is our right,” she said.
