Popular Front of India: NIA conducts raids across Kerala

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is carrying out searches at 56 locations in Kerala in the Popular Front of India (PFI) conspiracy case.

The raids started early on Thursday in coordination with state police, Kerala media outlets reported.

The searches are still going on at the premises and offices of several Muslim activists. Popular Front of India, a prominent Muslim group in India was banned by the Ministry of Home Affairs in September this year with its associates, and affiliates for a period of five years under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 by declaring it as an unlawful association.

Hundreds of Muslim activists including prominent Muslim leaders were arrested under draconian UAPA across India following the ban.
