At least four students of Jamia Millia Islamia, who were also members of Students’ Federation of India (SFI), have been detained by the Delhi Police on Wednesday after they made a plan to screen the BBC documentary critical of PM Modi.
SFI said they will be staging a protest outside the campus this afternoon against, what they call, illegal detention of students by the Delhi Police.
“The students were detained without any prior notice. Their phones snatched away. The whereabouts of the students is unknown,“ tweeted SFI Jamia Millia Islamia.
The detained students include Azeez, SFI JMI secretariat, Nivedya, SFI south area Vice President and SFI Jamia unit members Abhiram and Thejas.
The university administration, eariler, said no permission has been sought for the screening of the documentary and “we will not allow” it.
The SFI’s Jamia unit had issued a poster informing the documentary will be screened at 6 pm at the MCRC lawn gate no 8.
