The Shiv Sena on Thursday announced that it will not contest the upcoming West Bengal polls and extended its support to the ruling All India Trinamool Congress.

A day after senior Congress leader Anand Sharma criticised the Congress-Left-Indian Secular Front (ISF) alliance in West Bengal in the run up to the state polls, state Congress chief Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury defended the tie-up and said that the Congress and the Left are leading a secular alliance to defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party.

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav met West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee Monday afternoon and offered his full support to her in the coming assembly polls in Bengal.
