Telangana: Asaduddin Owaisi urges AIMIM supporters to vote for Congress in several seats

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi subtly encouraged votes for the INDIA bloc’s candidates in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in several seats in Telangana.

Without directly naming the candidates or the Congress, the Hyderabad MP urged AIMIM supporters in constituencies where AIMIM is not fielding candidates to vote for Congress representatives to defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

“If you don’t understand this, let me make it clear. Make the fat man (Congress candidate Danam Nagendra) in Secunderabad, the one with lots of white hair (Congress candidate Jeevan Reddy) win in Nizamabad, the thin one (Dr Ranjit Reddy) in Chevella. Have you understood? Kite in Hyderabad, BJP finished in Telangana. People of Majlis and people of Mahabubnagar, Chevellla, Secunderabad, Malkajgiri, Karimnagar, Nizamabad, and Adilabad, should vote for the defeat of BJP,” he said addressing an election rally in Khilwat.

Owaisi stressed that this election was not about ‘Mamu’ (K Chandrasekar Rao) but to remove the BJP from power.

His speech comes amid the AIMIM chief’s sharp criticisms of the Congress in his speeches regarding the grand old party’s stance on Muslim issues and Congress accusations against Owaisi of being a ‘B team of BJP’ by ‘splitting Congress votes.’

On May 13, all 17 parliamentary constituencies in Telangana will hold elections. In the 2019 elections, the BRS secured nine seats, the BJP captured four, the Congress took three, and AIMIM retained the Hyderabad seat, with Owaisi being elected from there.
