Indian security forces killed two militants in the Kashmir valley on Tuesday early morning.
On the morning of Tuesday, residents of Srinagar woke up to the sound of gunfire.
One of the militants was Junaid Sehrai, a divisional commander of the Hizb, an MBA graduate and the son of Ashraf Sehrai, chairman of the Tehreek-e-Hurriyat.
More than a dozen houses of civilians were damaged during the gunfight. Many houses were blown with Improvised Explosive Devices.
The armed forces left the area after setting several houses on fire, locals say.
People have lost everything in their houses and couldn’t save anything.
“They even stole our jewellery,” a woman told The Kashmir Walla.
“I told them there are no militants here. You can come inside with me and check my home,” she added.
mobile phone services — except government-run BSNL — were suspended in Srinagar soon after the gunfight broke out.
