Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra released the Youth Manifesto for Uttar Pradesh on Friday.

“Under this manifesto, we (Congress) will ensure employment to 20 lakh people, of which 8 lakh will be reserved for women,” party general secretary Priyanka who is leading the poll campaign in the state said.

According to the new poll manifesto, 1.5 lakh vacant teachers’ posts in primary and secondary schools, vacancies in the police force will be filled, if Congress comes to power.

Youth in the most backward communities will be given a loan at an interest rate of 1 percent to start their business, it promised.

The manifesto is also promising appointing social justice supervisors for every recruitment exam to prevent reservation scam.

Launching a fresh attack against the ruling BJP on the issue of unemployment, Priyanka said the BJP government makes big announcements promising 25-30 lakh jobs, but fails to deliver on them.

“The youth of UP have lost faith in government’s guarantees of providing jobs. We will address their concerns and restore faith by offering solutions. We want to work for the people,” she said.

Former Congress chief Rahul stated that under the five years of Bharatiya Janata Party, nearly 16 lakh youngsters in UP have lost their jobs.

“The youth of UP needs a new vision and the Congress can give that to youth without the hatred,” claimed Rahul.

“Narendra Modi has turned the ‘democratic dividend’ of India into ‘demographic disaster’. Change has to come in Uttar Pradesh, which only the Congress can provide and not ‘smaller parties’,” he added.

Face of Congress

Asked who would be the face of the Congress in UP, Priyanka Gandhi said, “Do you see any other face from Congress? Then.. my face is visible everywhere,” Indian Express reported.

On whether she would contest the election, Priyanka said: “When it is decided, you will get to know. We haven’t made a decision on it yet.”
