Ambedkarites at RSS gates: Massive protest led by VBA’s Sujat Ambedkar stopped outside RSS office in Aurangabad

Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi’s (VBA) Jan Aakrosh Morcha, led by Sujat Ambedkar, was stopped by police on Friday afternoon outside the RSS headquarters in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad).

The march, organised in protest of police action against two youths, Rahul Makasare and Vijay Wahul, began at Kranti Chowk and was heading to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh office to oppose the organisation’s membership registration drive at local educational institutions.

VBA said the rally responded to the suo motu action by police after the two youths objected to an RSS registration campaign near a government engineering college. Ambedkar criticised the police for booking the youths despite the RSS not filing any formal complaint, and he pointedly noted that the RSS itself was not a registered body.

Supporters at the rally carried copies of the Constitution and the national flag.

Ambedkar, joined by VBA leaders Siddharth Mokale and Amit Bhuigal, demanded that the RSS produce its registration certificate. “If ideological organisations are expected to register, the RSS should be no exception,” he said.

Sujat Ambedkar wrote on X: “In an historic event, Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi organised a protest at the RSS headquarters of Aurangabad. While the protest gathered an overwhelming response, this landmark event is the first in the history of independent India where someone has dared to protest and challenge RSS, right outside their gates.”

He went on to say: “During the protest, we had intended to peacefully go to the RSS office and hand them three gifts. Firstly, a copy of the Constitution of India – to make RSS follow, respect and conduct their activities under the guidelines of the constitution. Secondly, our national flag – to tell the RSS to start hoisting the national flag in all their offices and to stop the RSS from observing 15th August as a black day. And lastly, the Maharashtra Public Trust Act – to help the RSS( an unregistered organisation) to register themselves under the Indian law. However, before we could reach them, the RSS members fled, claiming the office was closed. In the end, Aurangabad’s DCP accepted the gifts on their behalf.”

“This once again proves that the RSS still harbors hatred toward the Indian Constitution and the national flag and does not believe in them. Only the Ambedkarites have the power and more importantly the ‘political will’ to defeat the RSS. And we will do so whatever it takes,” said Ambedkar.
