“Aritha Babu, you are the future of Kerala,” Priyanka Gandhi takes out road show with youngest Congress candidate

“One of the youngest Congress candidates for the Kerala Election, but, the bravest. Aritha Babu you are the future of Kerala,” Gandhi said.

Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Tuesday began her campaign for the assembly polls in Kerala, by taking out a road show meandering through Alappuzha, seeking votes for the party candidates.

Seated atop a moving vehicle along with Aritha Babu, the Congress candidate from Kayamkulam, Gandhi clad in a yellow salwar kameez, waved to the jostling crowd of people lined up on both sides of the road and also shook hands with many enthusiastic voters.

Twenty six-year-old Aritha is the youngest candidate in the poll arena in Kerala.

“One of the youngest Congress candidates for the Kerala Election, but, the bravest. Aritha Babu you are the future of Kerala,” Gandhi said.

Aritha is a post-graduate in Social Works and is presently pursuing her Masters in Commerce. She will be contesting against U Prathiba, CPI(M)’s leading and sitting Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA).

She also addressed a public rally in Karunagappally, Kollam district and said, “I wish for you to show to everybody in this country that you will not be fooled by any false promises, corrupt govt, people who want power and do not serve you.”

In a hectic schedule lined up for 2 days, she will take part in meetings and roadshows for the Congress candidates.

The Congress is hoping to wrest power in Kerala, where it swept the 2019 Lok Sabha polls by winning 15 out of 20 seats even as it lost the national polls for the second time in a row.

Former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi has also been campaigning in Kerala.
