At least five killed in helicopter crash in Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi

At least five people were killed after a helicopter with seven on board crashed in Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi district on Thursday.

According to Uttarkashi District Disaster Management Officer Shardul Singh, who spoke to news agency PTI, one person has been rescued, but there is no clarity yet about the fate of the others.

Reacting to the incident, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami took to X, stating, “We have received extremely distressing news about the loss of lives in a helicopter crash near Gangnani in Uttarkashi.”

He further stated, “SDRF and district administration teams have immediately reached the accident site for relief and rescue operations.”

“May God grant a place at His divine feet to the souls of those who lost their lives in this accident and provide strength to the grief-stricken families to bear this immense sorrow,” he said.

He assured that, “Instructions have been given to the administration to provide all possible assistance to the injured and to investigate the accident. I am in constant contact with the officials regarding this matter, and every situation is being closely monitored.”
