Bajrang Dal workers storm Haridwar college over students’ Iftar party, call Haridwar a ‘Hindu city’

Bajrang Dal workers barged into Rishikul Ayurvedic College in Haridwar on Saturday, protesting against Muslim students organizing an Iftar party on campus.

The Hindu militant group claimed that the event was part of a “conspiracy” to bring outsiders into the college, asserting that Haridwar is a “Hindu religious city,” PTI news agency reported.

Police managed to pacify the Hindutva workers, who left after creating a ruckus and issuing a warning of more aggressive agitation if no action was taken within three days.

The protest followed reports that some Muslim students had organized an Iftar party on the college premises the previous day.

Bajrang Dal office-bearer Amit Kumar, citing Municipal Corporation bylaws, claimed that non-Hindus are prohibited from holding such events in Haridwar.

“A conspiracy is being hatched in the religious city under Islamic Jihad. If the management does not expel the guilty students within three days, the Bajrang Dal will be forced to escalate the protest,” Kumar threatened, according to PTI.

Rishikul Ayurvedic College Director DC Singh told the news agency that he received a complaint about students hosting a party on campus without administrative permission.
