Bengal polls: “What a fight,” non-BJP leaders across country hail Mamata Banerjee

Delhi Chief Minister and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal tweeted congratulating Mamata Banerjee for what appears to be the Trinamool’s massive victory in West Bengal.

“Congratulations Mamata on your stupendous victory! Let us continue our work towards the welfare of people and tackling the Pandemic collectively,” NCP Sharad Pawar congratulates Mamata Banerjee on ‘stupendous victory’.

In Bengal, Trinamool has cornered 48.5% of votes counted so far, BJP a distant second with 37.5%.

Bengal’s Didi has managed to defend her government and appears to be headed towards a third term with Trinamool Congress winning close to 200 seats if not more.

Trinamool ahead in 202 seats, BJP in 79 as per latest update on EC site.

Trinamool Congress secretary general Partha Chatterjee on Sunday said trends available for 284 seats indicate that the people of West Bengal have given a befitting reply to the repeated “attacks” on chief minister Mamata Banerjee. Mocking the BJP, Chatterjee also said he wants to see the faces of those who had raised the slogan ‘Is bar 200 par’ (This time, over 200 seats for the saffron party). “People are with Mamata Banerjee and have replied to the derogatory comments and attacks on her and the populace of Bengal,” he told reporters.
