Budget 2021 trying to sell India: AAP slams Centre

Speaking in Rajya Sabha, Aam Aadmi Party’s Sanjay Singh termed Union Budget 2021 a budget to sell the country and its wealth.

“India’s wealth does not belong to the government, but the people of the country, the centre is trying to sell the country, ” Singh said.

“BPCL, SAIL, Airports – these aren’t private property, these are owned by 131 crore Indians,” he said.

Singh also criticized Prime Minister Modi for mocking the farmers in the parliament.

“PM Modi made fun of the farmers by calling them ‘andolanjeevi’. By calling the agitating farmers andolanjeevi, you have also insulted Mahatma Gandhi, B.R. Ambedkar, Rammanohar Lohia…we are proud of the andolankaris.”

“Chaudhary Charan Singh was named here. Charan Singh’s followers are sitting there on the border of Delhi and you are making them suffer,” Singh says.

Singh’ speech invoked reactions from the BJP MPs.

MoS Parliamentary Affairs V. Muraleedharan quoted Rule 240 asking Singh to not raise irrelevant issues and limit himself to the the Budget discussions.

Aam Aadmi Party pointed out that Bharatiya Mazdoor Sanghtan, “which is your own organisation has opposed your policies of privatisation.”

“You don’t let farmers speak there (at the border) and here, I am not allowed to speak.”
