COVID-19: India’s recoveries near 9.5 million

India recorded 33,291 new coronavirus recoveries-higher than new cases-as recovered cases reach 9,489,740.

However, there are 3,32,002 active cases in the country, which comprise 3.34 percent of the total caseload.

18 states and UTs have recovery rate better than the national average, said Health ministry.

So far, India has recorded 99,32,547 confirmed COVID- 19 cases, including 1,44,096 deaths.

24,010 infections being reported in a day, while the deaths rose to 1,44,451 with 355 new fatalities.

A total of 157,805,240 samples tested for COVID-19 up to 16th December. Of these, 1,158,960 samples were tested yesterday, according to Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

Meanwhile, Bharat Biotech, which is developing an indigenous coronavirus vaccine, in a statement said that the interim findings of phase 1 trial of its vaccine candidate, Covaxin, had found that “Covaxin was found to be well tolerated in all dose groups with no vaccine-related serious adverse events.”
