CPI(M) delegation visits family of infant killed by police in Alwar, demands immediate arrest of officers involved

A delegation from the CPI(M), headed by Polit Bureau member Brinda Karat, visited the family of one-month-old, who was killed after being crushed under a police boot on Sunday in Rajasthan’s Alwar district, expressing solidarity with the grieving Muslim family.

The delegation condemned the police brutality, calling it a “heinous act” and demanded justice to be served “swiftly and impartially.”

A statement issued by the CPI(M) Central Committee declared that the incident “highlighted the vulnerability of poor and marginalized families, which has been exacerbated by the anti-Muslim agenda perpetuated by the BJP-led state government.”

“Imran, a daily wage laborer with no criminal record, and his family have been subjected to this unimaginable tragedy,” they added.

They demanded the immediate arrest of all police personnel involved, on charges of murder and strict punishment of the station in charge responsible for the incident, starting with his immediate suspension.

The delegation, including Kishan Parikh (Secretary, Rajasthan State Committee), Sumitra Chopra (State Secretariat member, Rajasthan State Committee), and Raisa (District Secretary), further demanded immediate compensation to the affected family.

They called for implementation measures to ensure such illegal and brutal actions by law enforcement are halted.

The incident occurred on Sunday when a group of policemen barged into the house of Imran, a daily-wage laborer, without prior notice. The one-month-old infant, Alishda, wrapped in a blanket, was sleeping on the bed when the policemen, wearing boots, jumped onto it, crushing her and causing her immediate death.
