Dalit youth brutally thrashed by UP Police for “staring at them”

A dalit youth Subhash was brutally thrashed by police in Uttar Pradesh’s Lucknow when he had stepped out to watch a fight between his neighbours.

He was subjected to third-degree torture.

The accused police personnel have been suspended for assaulting the youth inside the police station.

Family members told reporters that the cops beat him to a pulp with a leather belt in front of his mother, following which he fainted.

According to Subash, the police asked him, “Why are you staring?”

A few hours later, cops came in a jeep and picked up Subash and took him to the police station.

Relatives including the survivor’s mother had gone to the police station to request the police to let him go but in vain.

Mother and other relatives are now in Lok Bandhu hospital in the city where Subash is undergoing treatment at present.
