Delhi cop turned BJP member arrested in Kerala CPIM member murder case

Manilal was rushed to the hospital, but succumbed to the injuries.

Communist Party of India (Marxist) has condemned the brutal murder of its active member in Kerala, Manilal, who was stabbed to death, allegedly by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) cadres on Sunday.

A day ahead of the first phase of local body elections in Kerala, 52 year old Manilal in Monroe Island in Kollam was brutally murdered around 8:30 pm on Sunday in front of the Left Democratic Front’s election committee office.

Manilal was rushed to the hospital, but succumbed to the injuries.

Two BJP members Ashokan and Sathyan have been arrested by the East Kallada police in connection with the killing.

In custody is Ashokan, a BJP member who took voluntary retirement from Delhi Police, and was inducted into the BJP by its state president K. Surendran five months ago.

Reports say prior to joining the CPIM, Manilal was a BDJS (Bharath Dharma Jana Sena) activist, a BJP ally in the state. Manilal joined the CPIM two years ago.

“The murder undeniably is a product of organised attempt by the RSS to disrupt law and order in the region, with just 24 hours remaining before the local body elections,”
CPIM alleged.

Left party said RSS is deliberately trying to create an atmosphere of terror in a region with no history of violence.
