Delhi MLA Amanatullah Khan gets bail two weeks after arrest

AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan was Wednesday granted bail in connection with a case of alleged irregularities at the Delhi Waqf Board, being investigated by the anti-corruption branch (ACB).

On Monday, Special Judge Vikash Dhull had sent Khan to 14-day judicial custody, following which his lawyers apprised the court of the bail application they had filed, and prayed that the matter be heard at the earliest.

On Tuesday, a Delhi judge posed some tough questions to the anti-corruption branch, asking what exactly was the loss in the case of alleged irregularities in the Delhi Waqf Board case and what was the criminality involved.

The ACB had arrested Khan,
prominent Muslim face of the AAP, on September 16. The AAP and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal called the arrest “targeted attack.”
