Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, Manish Sisodia alleged that Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal is misusing his power in Delhi riots case.
“Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal has the constitutional power but it should be used in rare of the rarest case,” he said.
Sisodia also said LG wants that center’s lawyer should present Delhi Police in court.
“We think that investigation and prosecution is two different things. Our constitution says prosecution should be independent. Lieutenant Governor is misusing his power,” Sisodia further said.
Baijal had referred the matter to the President on Thursday.
Earlier this week, the Delhi Cabinet had rejected the panel of lawyers proposed by the Delhi Police, saying it would not help a “free and fair” trial of the cases related to the violence in north-east Delhi.
He also issued an interim order, saying till the matter is resolved, the panel of lawyers appointed by the Delhi Police and approved by his office will continue to argue cases.
