Distributed oxygen cylinders to COVID patients; Congress leader arrested in MP, later released

Indian National Congress spokesperson Noori Khan had been arrested from Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh due to COVID-19 relief works on Tuesday and then later released.

“Ujjain police has arrested me under articles 188/353/269/270/03 and they were preparing to send me to jail. My only crime was that I raised awareness among the hospital administration about negligence with COVID-19 patients and was distributing oxygen cylinders,” she tweeted Tuesday morning.

Noori Khan is also serves as a national coordinator of All India Mahila Congress and member of Madhya Pradesh State Minorities Commission.

Hours after former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister and current Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly Kamal Nath’s intervention, Khan was later released.

“To suppress my voice the non penalty articles 353/188/269/270/03/04 were imposed and I was later released. By helping an ordinary worker like me Kamal Nath has proved that he’s there to fight for every small worker,” she tweeted Tuesday evening.
