During Ramadan, Telangana govt reduces Muslim employees’ work hours

With only days ahead for Ramadan, a holy month for Muslims across the globe, Telangana government on Monday announced permission for all Muslim workers in public offices to finish their job a hour early.

During Ramadan, Muslims fast from dusk till dawn and spend longer hours worshiping their god.

All Muslim government employees, including workers on contract, out sourced, on boards and public sector, will have the privilege.

The directions are issued by Chief Secretary Telangana, Santhi Kumari following a representation made by TS – MS Central Association Hyderabad, The Siasat Daily reported.

The beginning of Ramadan is determined by the moon sighting. If the moon is sighted on March 22, the first fasting day of Ramadan will also be March 23. If not, then the first day of fasting will be March 24.
