The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday submitted its chargesheet, which runs into 5,000 pages, against Maharashtra minister and NCP leader Nawab Malik in connection with the money laundering case.

The chargesheet has statements of witnesses and documents related to the land deal at the centre of the case where the Goawala compound in Kurla is situated, said officials.

While arresting Malik, the ED had claimed that he had entered into a land deal with Dawood Ibrahim’s sister, Haseena Parkar, through her driver Salim Patel.

The property in question was allegedly usurped from the original owners and sold to a company connected to Malik named Solidus Investments Pvt. Ltd, the ED alleged.

According to the ED, Solidus Investments Pvt. Ltd. And Malik Infrastructure received rent of Rs 11.70 crore from the tenants at Goawala compound property that has come under the ED scanner.

Malik was arrested on February 23 and is currently in judicial custody.

A copy of the chargesheet will be given to Malik after the court takes its cognizance.

Malik has filed an SLP before the Supreme Court against the Bombay High Court’s order dismissing his plea for interim release.

In his plea, Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik said that his political rivals targeted him after being “deeply embarrassed by the exposes” carried out by him.

In the plea, Malik also claimed that action was taken against him since he has been a “vocal critique of the misuse of central agencies” since 2020.

Nawab Malik has been repeatedly attacking central enforcement agencies, accusing them of harassing and intimidating opposition leaders at the behest of the Bharatiya Janata Party

led Union government.
