An eight-year-old boy, Ayan Manjur Barbhuiyan, lost his life in a violent family dispute over a piece of land in Madhurbond, Silchar town on Saturday.
The incident occurred on Water Works Road and Ayan was immediately taken to Silchar Medical College Hospital as he was bleeding profusely. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries in the afternoon while in the pediatric ICU.
According to local residents, Ayan’s father, Manjurul, and Alauddin were embroiled in a dispute over the land in question.
Ayan’s grandmother said that the young boy was playing inside their house when Alauddin’s son, Apu Majumder, suddenly entered and stabbed Ayan with a knife. The entire scene was caught on CCTV, and Apu has already been detained by the police.
Fraternity Movement Assam in a social media post condemned the incidnet urge authorities to take immediate action.
“The deceased’s father had sought security from the police but was failed. We call for swift punishment for the perpetrators and a fast track court trial,” it said.
