Gujarat: ABVP members force college principal to chant ‘Jai Shri Ram’

Students affiliated with Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the student wing of Hindu militant group Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), on Saturday allegedly forced a college principal to chant ‘Jai Shri Ram’ and also made him apologize to students who were rebuked earlier for raising Hindutva war cries during an ongoing class.

According to Times of India, the saffron students have been shouting ‘Jai Shri Ram’ slogans while the classes were in progress in Ahmedabad’s HA College.

A teacher rebuked the saffron students for disrupting the class and took them to the college principal, Sanjay Vakil. Vakil who had scolded the students, made the students write an apology letter, the newspaper reported.

Following this, the ABVP members came to the principal’s office, created ruckus and started chanting Hindutva war cries such as “Jai Shri Ram.”

The principal was forced to apologise to them explaining that he had no intention of hurting anyone’s religious sentiments.

The college is affiliated to the GLS University.
