Gujarat cable bridge collapse: Hospital treating injured spruced up overnight for PM visit

Gujarat’s Morbi civil hospital where dozens of injured people from the cable bridge accident are getting treated gets spruced up overnight for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit.

On Tuesday morning, Modi is scheduled to visit the injured in the tragic accident that took at least 130 lives on Sunday.

The images of renovation work sparked criticism on social media. Political figures and critics of Modi slammed the insensitivity to prioritise the facelift while the hospital is busy treating dozens of injured.

“This is a whole new level of insensitivity and megalomania,” Saral Patel, National Convenor, @INCIndia Social Media Department tweeted.

“132 people have died, and PM and the BJP have even turned this tragedy into event management.”

Aam Aadmi Party also tweeted a video of renovation work with the hashtag #BJPCheatsGujarat.

Targeting the BJP government in Gujarat AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal said Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel should “resign immediately” and Assembly polls should be held in the state.

Nine people have been arrested so far in a case related to the accident.
