Hathras: UP Congress chief Ajay Kumar Lallu under house arrest in Lucknow

Uttar Pradesh Congress Chief Ajay Kumar Lallu alleged that he has been placed under house-arrest ahead of the scheduled visit of former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi to Hathras today.

“I have been placed under house-arrest. What is the state government trying to hide? Whom does it want to save? Today, women in Uttar Pradesh are unsafe. There is lawlessness in the state,” said Ajay Kumar Lallu in Lucknow.

According to a tweet by Uttar Pradesh Congress, its state president Lallu, party district heads and more than 500 workers have been placed under house arrest.

“By doing so, the state government is only exposing itself. It has removed all doubts from people’s mind that it has resorted to bullying and is blatantly standing with the criminals of Hathras,” Congress spokesperson Anshu Awasthi told media.

“Congress MPs under the leadership of former Congress President Rahul Gandhi will go to Hathras, UP on Saturday afternoon to meet the family of the 19-year-old daughter of Uttar Pradesh, who was brutally assaulted & murdered,” Congress leader KC Venugopal said.

Heavy police deployment has come up on the Delhi-Uttar Pradesh border in Noida on Saturday, ahead of a scheduled visit of a Congress delegation.
