Hindu right-wing handles have once again intensified their hate, now openly calling for rape and sexual violence against Kashmiri Muslim women, amid a surge of Islamophobic attacks and violence against Muslims, especially Kashmiris, across India following an attack by militants on tourists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam on Tuesday, killing 26 people.
While countless online attacks have occurred this week, this time, it started with a user named Ben Dover (@nortjesznn), who posted a seemingly supportive message offering protection to Kashmiri girls in Delhi, “Any Kashmiri girl feeling threatened in Delhi can come to my house at night. You will be safe and well hosted. A divided India will lose; a united India will win and thrive.”
What began as a seemingly supportive message quickly took a dark turn when he tweeted, ‘But I can’t guarantee if she will be alive after spending a night with me,’ while also targeting Hijabi women, declaring, ‘Hijabis are my priority.’
These posts seem to be mocking the offers of help extended to Kashmiri students amid the anti-Kashmiri sentiment, which has forced hundreds of students from Kashmir to leave different parts of India due to increasing attacks and harassment.
The user hails from Uttarakhand, according to Grok AI.
The fact that the post was liked by over 4,400 users underscores the alarming normalisation of such violent rhetoric.
The responses endorsing his tweets and openly calling for rape and sexual violence, to the point that they are not even worth mentioning.
However, these posts triggered widespread backlash, with many condemning the blatant misogyny, the objectification of women as targets of rape, and the Islamophobia.
Calling it ‘disgusting’ and ‘shameful,’ netizens demanded strict action against those responsible.
A user named @Isra44945572 pointed out that these individuals are no different from terrorists, “All this attack has done is expose the monsters, rapists, and genocidal maniacs in the open. And these are the ones who think they have the right to be angry at the terrorists? You are the same, if not worse..”
User @sohailmd123 responded that “Never prove your patriotism for this god forsaken country, Hindutva social media in the context of India is just a scaled model of reality…there are nearly 5k likes agreeing with this rape threat/sexualization of Muslim women and dung eating tards making jokes out of it.”
Another user @bibliophile890 called this a “common characteristic of rapist mindset , sick-minded, illiterate, unemployed people.”
“This predator mindset isn’t fringe – it’s fed, protected, and thriving in Modi’s India,” said @AAhmad105.
Despite the widespread backlash, he remained unapologetic, as clearly demonstrated by his response to the criticism, where he dismissed the concerns of those offended by his hateful remarks, making it clear that he had no intention of reconsidering.
Ever since the militant attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, Kashmiri citizens and students living in different parts of India have been facing violent attacks and death threats, especially after the Hindu right-wing IT cell started spreading misinformation and anti-Kashmir, anti-Muslim propaganda on social media.
